PS3 vs. Xbox 360. Which should I buy?
I need a little help deciding which one I should pick

    Ok, first…
    CONTROLLER
I’ve had some experience with an Xbox controller, but I am much more familiar with the Playstation controller (My first game system was a PSOne and my cousin currently owns a PS2). They’re both wireless so that’s not an issue

    GAMES
The PS3 has Little Big Planet, which I would like to give a shot. However, I am a big fan of the "Banjo-Kazooie" series, which has its third title on the Xbox, and the first two on Xbox Live. I’m not big on M-rated games, but if push comes to shove, both systems have GTA4 (Grand Theft Auto 4), RE5 (Resident Evil 5), and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Please, don’t talk to me about Halo because I can get those games on the PC. They also both have downloadable games, achievements (trophies for PS3), and the like.

    ONLINE
Both PS3 and 360 have online capabilities. With the 360 you have to pay about $50 a year to actually play with other people, but I think that would be worth it. PS3 is free online play, though… PS3 has an internet browser, but I don’t really care about that (I have a Wii, an iPod, and a laptop that can do that too). Online play is supposed to be better for the 360, but, once again, for a price.

    BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY
The Xbox 360 (Pro + Elite) says it can play "over 450+ Xbox games". For the PS3, some can, some can’t. The 60 GB supposedly has the best backward compatibility. On the PS3 Store, you can also download old PSOne games, which is a nostalgic plus.

    PRICE
I was thinking of buying either the Xbox 360 Pro for about $300, the used PS3 60 GB, or a new PS3 80 GB (both PS3′s run for about $400)
The average 360/PS3 game costs about $60, so that’s even.

    FEATURES
Both the 360 and the PS3 can play DVDs and audio. A plus for the PS3 is that it can also play Blu-Ray. The Xbox has downloadable Netflix movies with an account. That’s a nice addon.

    GRAPHICS
I need your input on this one. Which do you think has better graphics?

    SIZE
    Again, your input.

    GUI/HOME SCREEN
    Once again, your input

    MICROSOFT/SONY
Microsoft is famous for releasing ‘mess-ups’ so I’m wondering if they did the same for the Xbox. I also HATE "Blank blank of Death" and apparently the Xbox has a Red Ring of Death. I’ve had little experience with Sony products besides the first two Playstations, so getting a PS3 might not be new to me. However, Sony sends out its share of bugs.

GAMES I WOULD BE INTERESTED IN
    Burnout Paradise (360/PS3)
    Midnight Club series (Xbox/360/PS2/PS3)
    Little Big Planet (PS3)
Banjo-Kazooie series (360, since it probably won’t be on Virtual Console)
    GTA4 (360/PS3)
GTA4: The Lost and the Damned (360)
Kingdom Hearts I and II (PS2)
    Sonic the Hedgehog (360/PS3)
    Mirror’s Edge (360/PS3)
    Resident Evil 5 (360/PS3)
    Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (360/PS3)

    Please answer. Thanks!
I don’t think I should have included the Microsoft/Sony part. I might be just a little ticked at them [Microsoft] because my Vista computer frequently blue-screened and my Zune crapped out on me after 4 months.

    also…
For internet on both systems, does either have wireless? Internet with Ethernet would be kind of hard for me (I play games on my TV, while my internet router is downstairs)

Deffinatly the PS3 because the XBOX 360 gets "the Red Ring of Death" which means that it’ll stop working.

    CONTROLLER:
    PS3′s Dualshock 3 is great

    GAMES:
Most games today come out for both

    ONLINE:
The PSN is free, Xbox Live you pay for

    BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY:
Most Xbox 360′s can’t play Xbox games and any PS3 can play PS1 games. Some PS2 games can only be played on certain PS3s

    PRICE:
Wait for the PS3 price drop, I got mine at holiday time for $250 and Xbox is always cheaper but for online, you need to pay so it will be the same in the end

    FEATURES:
It doesn’t really matter, it’s your opinion

    GRAPHICS:
About the same, PS3 is getting better since it is Blu-ray

    SIZE:
    PS3 is slightly larger

    GUI/HOME SCREEN:
    PS3 is more streamlined

    MICROSOFT/SONY:
Microsoft has terrible Customer service and Sony is generally nicer

Controller: Both controllers are nice, and come wirelessly. So no problem for both there.

Games: Some games are exclusive to the Xbox 360 and some are for the PS3, but the PS3 games tend to be cheaper.

Online: Never gone online with any system, but I believe there is more to Xbox Live than just playing with others. However, the PS3 has Sony Home I think it is called, which is basically like a mediocre version of Second Life.

Backwards Compatibility: Both have games that can play from the older systems, however I believe you would need an emulator software, as far as I know the Xbox 360 has and sometimes requires it, which might also be required for some games to play on the PS3.

Price: Xbox 360 is much cheaper than the PS3, but don’t get the aracde, because it doesn’t have a harddrive, which is needed for games saves, and such.

Features: Blu-ray is nice, but the movies are more expensive than the DVDs, which both systems play. Netflix is nice, more than the PS3 has.

Graphics: As with any system, the graphics depend on the game. Both systems has the same visual output. Some games on Xbox 360 have wonderful graphics, which goes the same for the PS3, but then again some games don’t. Its all game dependent.

Size: Both systems are large. The Xbox 360 can be placed flat or standing up, as for the PS3, it is curved an can only be placed standing up.

Home Screen: The xbox 360 home screen is wonderful and easy to manuever.

Microsoft/Sony: Any company will have its downfalls. Your decision on a system shouldn’t be based on the company, but the actual system. However, Sony is a good company, and they were the ones to produce the PS2, which is still popular and going. Microsoft is known for Bill Gates, and computers.

Games: Most of the games you are interested in are for both systems. About KH 1 and 2, if you decide to get a Xbox 360, you could play could those games on your cousin’s PS2 perhaps.

    Hope this helps!

The Xbox 360 by far outclasses the Playstation 3. The PS3′s online capabilities are very poor compared to Xbox Live. You get far beyond what you pay for.

The Xbox 360 is actually a more powerful system, even though Sony says the PS3 is. PS3 even came out a year later and it still isn’t as powerful.

Games: This is what truly makes or breaks a system. Sony refuses to pay for excluisives, while Microsoft will, so Sony often loses games to the Xbox 360. Even games that are reported to be PS3 excluisives often end up on the Xbox as well at the same time.

Controller: The Xbox 360 controller is the greatest controller for a console to date. It feels very natural and the Analog Sticks are far better than on the PS3 which still has basically the same controller since long ago.

Also, the PS3 controller may have Six Axis, but this fall, a Xbox 360 Motion Remote is being released. It is in fact much more technoligically advanced than the Wii’s remote. It uses special technology to pin-point where your remote actually is, instead of just knowing when you shake it. No more flicking your wrist in golf like with the Wii.

One note: The BlueTooth PS3 controller sometimes cuts out entirely. Not fun.

Also, the Xbox Live Marketplace is unsurpassed for downloading the latest and greatest add-ons for games.

You seem to like Racing games, and I own the Wireless Racing Wheel and Forza 2. It is incredible. While making the game, they had a professional race car driver (not Nascar) come in and test the game throughout the process. He raced in the game in a car that he has used before in real life on a real life track. He set a world record time for the game and said it is exactly like the real thing.

The Xbox 360 seems to be getting better all the time and Microsoft always addresses people’s wants/needs. There are still the occaisonal hardware failures, but they will fix it for free and it is less common today than ever.

Also, don’t worry about backwards compatibility because that is only if you aren’t connected to the internet. If you can connect to the internet, you can download small patches so that any (or virtually any) Original Xbox 360 game will run.

I know the PS1 and PS2 were pretty good, but Sony really disappointed some fans with the PS3. Don’t fall for their brand power.

One final note: Sony won’t really admit that their system isn’t all people expected it to be. At least Microsoft spent FAR over 1 billion dollars fixing everyone’s Xbox 360′s for free and continue do to so.

Overall, the Xbox 360 is the clear dominator in the Next Generation Gaming Competition. I’m not saying PS3 is bad, but the Xbox 360 is a much better choice.

Better graphics hands down is the ps3 just look at metal gear solid 4 and killzone 2. and upcoming games like uncharted 2 and god of war 3 as well as infamous. Plus graphics are always getting better.

Okay 360 has netflex big deal i could do that on my computer or laptop and get my membership from there.

360 is smaller but with less features

and gui/ home user well they both feel the same to me since they’re both organized but just a different look to them so this shouldn’t matter

PS3 has wireless already inside of it and the 360 u have to buy the adapter for another $100 so it would already be $300 for a 360

Well there you have it i say you get a ps3 and try to look for one on ebay if you do.. i got a refurbed 60gb ps3 from there for only $350 and it runs as if it were new but try looking for this seller best_buy_outlet cuz its actually Best Buy’s ebay store

In the end its what you want more badly or you could get both!
