I have a Sony Ericsson with a Cingular logo on the bottom, I have a Tmobile chip that I have inserted but the cell phone is asking for correct chip. How can I tweak it in order to use it with a Tmobile chip? Is there some kind of software that I can use or can independent phone shoft help with this? Please help…
Thank’s guys!
The phone is locked to Cingular, which means you cannot use it with any other GSM provider unless you get this phone unlocked.
Call AT&T Customer Service and tell them you are traveling to China and want to activate your phone on a pay-as-you-go plan with a local provider once you get there. They should get back to you via e-mail within a couple of days with a code to unlock your phone (it’s different for every single phone) and instructions on how to use it.

well the prev. answer doesn’t really work, even pre-paid cingular phones are "locked to the network" most companies do this. Do a search on google for Unlock codes they cost about 20.00 dollars and take about 36hrs to go through- I just unlocked my cing. moto V3 it worked fine. Once a phone is unlocked you can put your active GSM Sim card into it and your good to go. KEEP in mind, once unlocked the data side of your phone ie. the internet or special ring tones will probably not work. AND t-mobile CAN not troubleshoot a phone that they don’t sell or support. Hope this helps!
