Can I use a different brand other than a Sony memory card for a Sony camcorder?

I just ordered a Sony Handycam HD 5X Optical Zoom 2.5 in. LCD Camcorder – Purple, and I wanted to know if I could use some other brand of memory card than Sony. Like, could I use a SanDisk?

You have to buy a memory stick. I used a lexar memory stick in my sony camera. As long as it’s a memory stick and not an xd or sd or sdhc, then you should be ok.
