Can the new sony gift card be used to buy stuff off the sony playstation store through the ps3?

I just noticed that sony has their own gift card recently but it does not give any detail on whether or not it can be used for the ps3 downloads.

Yes, If you look under the part where you have to pay for the transaction, there is a box that says enter gift card #. The card will say Playstation Network on it prominently.
