I intend to purchase a PS3 system in the near future, but the game I want is available now. I would like to play the game on my PS2 until I can afford the PS3 system.

    nope, it won’t work, or they wouldn’t make as much money off the new console because people wouldn’t need to upgrade to play cool new stuff that comes out. you can play the ps2 games on the ps3 though.
