Sony camera with proprietory Li-ion battery or AA battery?

Jul 20
2010

I’m planning to buy a camera and use it for at least 4 or 5 years. Mostly it would be a Sony W310 camera. It uses a proprietary NP-BN1 Li-ion battery. Would I be able to find a such battery after few years from now? (does Sony discontinue such products after some years?)

Because I’m planning to use my camera for years, is it good idea to go for a AA type camera instead of Li-ion?

The battery will probably be available for at least 5 years. I suggest you buy a spare battery now so that there will be no doubt.

AA batteries remain a good idea, especially rechargeable ones, because if you are away from the charger you can always get an emergency set almost anywhere.

How to solve black lines in Sony Camera?

Jul 02
2010

Black lines appear on the pictures of my DSC-W30 Sony Camera. Please help. Thank you.

I had one of these too. Mine’s got sand in it and started to get black lines on the screen and pictures as well. You can’t fix it. I bought a new one because I thought it was time for an upgrade anyway. But, if yours got water in it, try taking it apart and let it "dry" for a few days.

what is better Nikon or sony camera?

2010

I’ve been looking at Nikon S3000 camera’s and some people say they hate it but others say it’s okay, for taking normal pictures.

The sony cybershot seems like a popular camera too and it’s about the same as the nikon.

Has anyone had both?
Which one would be better?

The best camera is the one that lets you take the best pictures. A tool is only as good as the person using it.

For point and shoot, they are mostly the same when they are at similar prices.
