how do you turn on the lcd screen for a A230 Sony digital camera?

I just bought the camera from Best Buy, and i cant get the screen to work. Yes, it will allow me to view all the menu and everything; therefor i know it isn’t broke or damaged. But, it will not allow me to just look at the screen when taking a picture. Instead, i have to look through the viewfinder. Does it even have the ability to be able to do what i’m asking. Help, please.

Whenever I have a question/problem such as yours, I read the user’s guide (aka "the manual").
It is amazing just how much I always learn from that.

If that doesn’t help (or if I’m interested in a product I don’t own), I check the manufacturer’s website.
They have descriptions and specs for their gadgets, often have user forums, and the decent manufacturers all let you download the manuals in electronic form.

99% of the time that does the trick.

Do you have $35 and a card reader?

If you do, you can download Rescue3 from Lexar and use that program to salvage all those shots. You will still have to copy them all to a computer and format the card, but that is what should have been happening all along.
