I agre the sony a200 is a really nice way to slide into the world of DSLR, inbuild image stabilisation really works a treat I gotta say. And even the kitlens is very acceptable.

The great thing …
The great thing today they don’t make terrible DSLR’s, but yeah some have more features then others so watch out and research.
The quality is much effected by the lens so once you find what kind of photography lays you well see what kind of lens is a worthy upgrade. For beginners..well..just use the kitlens for a while!

It’s hard to go wrong with a Canon DSLR. I recently bought a used 300D that’s nearly 5 years old and it still works perfectly.

There are better …
There are better cameras, read reviews (google it), but the color quality is a bit bad for a SLR, and it has no autofocus motor in the housing, so if you want a new lense you need to get one with a built in autofocus motor, wich costs alot.
