How are mini DV tape video-files from Sony Handy-cam copied to PC?

I have already installed the Sony Picture Package programme to my PC and followed the screen instructions, but only the files from the memory stick duo is copied, while the video files from the mini DV tape isn’t. Do I have to adjust settings in Sony Handycam? I’m on Win XP.

You’ll have to make sure your camera is on playback mode, and there should be a setting for capturing video. Capturing video in general is better through the firewire/iLink/IEEE port (same port Mac/Sony/Windows names) That may be the problem too.
Check to see if your computer has this port installed. They are quite inexpensive to install and XP should support them.
Then simply go Start>All PRograms>Accessories>Windows Movie Maker and go to the capture/record mode and import your video

The camera has a firewire connection. Using that, attach a firewire cable from your camera to your computer. You may need to import in real time using movie editing software.

Alright, you use a firewire cable (IEEE3577) cable and hook it up to your camera. Use some software to download it with like Pinnacle or Adobe.
