How can I restore my Sony vaio PCG_TR1MP notebook screen to its full width after reinstalling the OS?

I have reinstalled my notebook and after it I found that the screen with is reduced to 1024 x 786 leaving a space of 1 inch on either side of the desktop screen. How to solve it and restore it to it’s full width

Reinstall the video card drivers, then right click your desk top go to properties, then settings, there will be a bar to changes the settings.

Most likly you have a ATI or NVIDIA video card, or intergrated graphics card.
