2009
I am filming a movie i am going to post on you tube when it’s finished and i am filming with a sony digital 8 handycam unlike my other projects but when ever i connect it to my computer the computer doesn’t recognize it i have put the camera to both record modes and the play mode and still nothing…I am on a compaq laptop and have been hearing a lot about fire wire if there is a way to do it without it please tell me.
Digital8 camcorders have a DV port. That is a 4-pin firewire port. You need to connect it to a firewireport on your computer using a firewire cable. Firewire, i.LINK, DV and IEEE1394 are all the same thing. If your computer does not have a 1394 port, hopefully it has an availalable PCMCIA or ExpressCard slot so you can add a firewire port.
USB will not transfer DV-quality video. And a USB-firewire converter adapter cable POS won’t work, either.
