How do I hook up my guitar to my computer to use software by SONY – "Music Studio?"?

This is a music creation and mixing software that I bought at Best Buy. They won’t help me figure out how to hook up my guitar and neither will the software company. The insructions that came with it are no help at all and I consider myself pretty computer savvy. The company that put out the software wants to charge me for assistance over the phone after I have paid $80+ for their product. Ridiculous huh? Anyway, you are supposed to be able to load up the software, ‘plug in’ an instrument (I tried to and got nothing), and add your own licks, etc and manipulate it like in a real studio then burn it to cd. Help!

If you have a jack that goes straight from your guitar to the usb port on your computer, it should be able to record. If not, it may require you to look at the input options on your computer. This would mean making sure that some of the default inputs are not muted, which most are defaulted to be. If this still doesn’t work, you might need something in between, like one of those fancy digitech pedals or a fender recording amp that are meant to be hooked up to a computer.
