How do you delete from a Sony Camcorder?

How do you delete only a certain part of ur taping on a Sony Camcorder (Model no. DCR-HC30)? I accidentally taped myself messing with the zoom and it is really unnecessary and i would like to delete that part. How do i do it?

You can only rewind the tape to the start of the unwanted bit and then record over it – but if there is some video after the "messing around" bit that you want to keep it is very difficult to ensure you stop in time.

The usual answer when you make an error like that is to rewind immediately and just tape over it.

The only real solution is to transfer the video to your PC and use a video editor to cut out the bit you don't want – in most peoples videos there are quite a lot of bits which need removing – shots of the floor etc. – then burn your final video to a DVD.
