How do you get the audio from Mini-DV tapes using Sony Vegas?

I’m using Sony Vegas 7.0 (instead of Windows Movie Maker) to get video from my tapes for the first time. The video is captured fine but there’s no audio!!

How do you fix this problem?

(Windows movie maker gets the vid and aud fine but the quality of the video significantly drops)
(If you recommend some other tape-capturing software, please feel free to share)

All miniDV tape based camcorders use firewire (not USB) to transfer DV-format video. Use a Firewire cable (EEE1394a, i.LINK, DV – all the same thing) cable to connect the DV port (not USB) on the camcorder to the firewire port on the computer. If you don’t have a firewire port on your computer, add one – hopefully your computer has an available expansion slot.

From the capture window, go to options->preferences->capture and make sure you have “capture audio” checked. Other than that, I don’t know what to tell you.
