How do you import video and sound from a mini DV camera using sony vegas pro?

Your computer needs a firewire400 port. You will transfer the video using a firewire (IEEE13094a, i.Link – all the same thing) cable connecting the DV port on the camcorder to the firewire port on your computer. USB will not work.

Read the Sony Vegas manual (or use the online help) and check the preferences. You did not tell us what kind of camcorder – so it is a bit tough to provide any detailed assistance.

Your camcorder should be plugged into AC power, too… and in Play/Edit mode.
