How good is the Sony ebook reader?

I just wanna know if it’s any good or not. I read a lot, and my parents are tired of going out to buy books. So they wanna get an ebook reader thingy instead. How good is the Amazon Kindle too, if you can tell me? Or, does anyone know any better ones? Please give reasons why whichever is better or not. Thanks ^-^

I’ll say the Kindle 2. It can use Whispernet for free so you can get books anywhere with Kindle 2 but not with Sony Reader. Kindle 2 is also supported by Amazon with much more book selections, while there are complaints that people find it difficult to find books they want with Sony Reader. I read a lot too, and Kindle books are cheaper than actual books so it will be a good saving in long term. There is a review mentioning about this:

And the actual customer review for Kindle 2 is always the best place to check out. Read one or two reviews and you should be able to make up your decision:

The Kindle and Sony Reader are the two big ones. All the others I do not know about. As a Kindle 2 owner, I can’t tell you much about the Sony Reader. I picked it over the other because the wireless download is very convenient and has a larger hard drive instead of the option to store books on external medium. (Others will like just the opposite!)

Here is some side by side comparisons.

If you are in the United States, the Kindle will definitely be more convenient as you can simply download the ebooks everywhere with wireless access. You can check the latest review from actual customer, a person called N. Jenkins is a fan of sony reader, but also favor the Kindle for more available titles:
