My mom’s laptop stopped working, so we took it to a place that can fix them. They said the motherboard went out and that it would be 500.00 to replace. Does this sound accurate?
Sounds accurate. But for that price it would be better to buy a new one.

With labor it does sound right. But if you could locate the exact board for it, say on ebay, you can do it for around $200.00 You get the schematic of how to disassemble it from sony support and it will just swap out. Make sure you get a gaurantee for the board from the seller. I have also seen small companies that swap them out thru ebay for around $200.00.

If mother board is brand new than i think its reasonable price. Sound accurate.
