How to fix a Sony Digital Camera?

I have a Sony Digital Camera that works fine once it turns on, but in order for it to come on I must hit the power button, the the lens automatically goes all the way out then back in then out again. The problem is that the lens does not do this on its own, it gets hung up going in and out to where I have to get my fingernails and it and help force it. I don't know how to make it work right again.

    There is NOTHING users can do to repair camera of any kind other than do a camera "reset"
