I have a sony vaio pcg-f630, that needs new harddrive, have put harddrive in desktop but never laptop.
Tim it depends some laptops have a drive tray that just slides in and some you have to take them apart. my adivce is let a shop do it and Iknow as I work on all types of computers from desktops to laptops.

Hey Tim,
The HDD upgrade in a laptop is a lot trickier than in a PC as you'd have figured out already. So let the experts at the computer dealer should handle it. My suggestion is get a external casing and a laptop HDD which connects on a USB port and works just fine. What's more.. you also get a lot more portability of carrying your data around and you also save some money on USB thumb drives.
