If go for shopping sony digital camera and memory cards, prices vary drastically (more than 10%) from shop to shop. can any body tell me how to recognize GENUINE Sony digital camera and memory? (Particularly interested in Sony H3 and Pro Duo 2 gb or 4gb cards). If I purchased fake memory card, what can be possible consequences?
Regard,
Mandar
Most of the fake memory cards are being sold on the Internet via eBay … eBay is doing its best to stop this, but fake cards are still being sold.

In the US, cards purchased in reputable electronics and camera stores are the real deal.

You will find prices are sometimes more than 20%. It depends on the contract the retailer has with the desitributor and if they either are direct channel partners with Sony or have to buy through an additional person such as an importer. The Sony logo should be on every item and if the seller is reputable, then it probably is a safe to believe it is real. Some items on close out from one source in relation to a place that has several in stock will be cheaper as they want to reduce the inventory.
