How to transfer video from 8mm Sony Camcorder to Sony laptop that has usb ports only?

I have a Sony 8mm tapes Camcorder with DV, and S video cable outlets … how can I transfer the recordings to my Sony VAIO Laptop which does not have the firewire jack, usb ports only?

    if you have dv out it's not a 8 mm but a digital 8 deck you have.

    usb is too slow for that. you may be able to use a usb2 adapter with a firewire (dv) input.
    Or you can get a pcmcia card with dv inputs.

    Last resort, get a usb acquisition device and connect it to the composite out of the camcorder. not as clean but ti will work.
