Sonys latest device to hit the computer world is the Sony Vaio P Lifestyle PC. While Sony official denies that it is a netbook, it falls within the exact requirements for netbook statusexcept for the price. However with this higher cost, it offers a completely unique design, perfect for travel and chalk full of features. We unbox the device and give you Hardware Canucks, First Impressions.

At this time, …
At this time, nothing on the market really has that capability. What is needed for HD (720p & 1080P) playback is the new Intel GN40 chipset, which will most likely be paired with the new N280 Atom CPU. It includes hardware HD decoding.
The Asus EEE 1000HE has the N280 and was rumoured to come with the GN40, BUT it would appear it still uses the old 945GSE. The GN40 has already started shipping to manufacturers, so give it a few months to make its way into retail products

Thanks all for the feedback
This was a unscripted and largely unedited video and is separate from our regular product Showcases. One major thing that mistakenly was left out was the battery consumption.
Battery life is “claimed” at 4 hours with the stock 2 Cell battery.
Doing a simple battery test. Operating with WiFi on and screen at half brightness and running a video, the battery lasted 2 hours 9 minutes.

Nice good qality …
Nice good qality vid. Vista seems a bit slow, just don’t understand what Sony are playing at! Why not just release it with XP and lower the price a bit more and these would sell like hot cakes I reckon.
I’m hoping other manufacturers such as Asus get in on the action and produce nice small devices like this one. Thanks for sharing.
