I have a Sony mini dv handycam that refuses to sync with my vista laptop. Any ideas what I could do?

I am trying with Windows Movie Maker and Pixela image mixer 1.0. The usb driver is installed and the program/camera has worked on older computers. Windows Movie Maker always says "The computer cannot detect your camera. Please make sure it is attached and turned on…" and pixela shuts down when I try to enter the capture enviorment. Any helpful ideas are appreciated. Thanks

not compatiable with Vista.
