John Williams is to …
John Williams is to music as:
Michael Jordan is to Basketball
Michael Jackson was to Pop
Elvis Presley was to Rock
Steven Spielberg is to movie direction
Steve Irwin was to animals
Mother Teresa was to the Catholic Church
Michael Phelps is to Olympic swimming
He is the Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven all rolled into one of our time and age.
The best of the best, crème de la crème, a pure musical genius.
Everything he orchestrates is a brilliant magnum opus.

Also, I believe it …
Also, I believe it conflicted with Memoirs of a Geisha, which could have made Newell’s feelings moot, as John Williams would have chosen Memoirs of a Geisha regardless. Personally, I am very glad he did so, it was a far more emotionally and artistically satisfying work than what his score for the trainwreck that was Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire would have sounded like, I am sure. Personally, I think John Williams took the magic of the Harry Potter films with him when he left.

To answer …
To answer DAVIDRUIZ09:
While I cannot be certain about the fifth Harry Potter and up, I know that Goblet of Fire director Mike Newell felt that John Williams would “infantilize” the music. If you would like, I could send you the interview in which he said so.

My GOD this man is …
My GOD this man is a musical genius!
EVERY time I watch this, I’m just waiting for that announcer to go:
“This has been a presentation of NBC news. More Americans watch NBC news than any other news organization in the world.”
Don’t know if that’s true, I just expect to hear him say it behind the music! XD

He’s apparently …
He’s apparently going to be scoring the latest one “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”, which will be in two parts.
I can only ume he was too busy with other projects to do the previous ones.

i miss so much …
i miss so much playing in a band/orchestra. It’s hard as on a person since it hardly paysbut when you get to the magical moment when the group is playing a piece, where everyone in the room collects into a single entity. It’s the closest thing i’ve ever felt to a spiritual experiece

This is my mobile …
This is my mobile phone’s ringtone! It’s also the theme music for Seven News in Australia, though for 7 News, it’s much less orchestral and a bit techno-remix upbeat…well worth the youtube search to hear it if you feel like it.

Same scoring stage …
Same scoring stage THE WIZARD OF OZ was recorded on back when it was MGM. One of only three big recording rooms left in Hollywood, the other two being at Fox and at Warner Brothers.
This is a splendid theme.

I like the BBC …
I like the BBC theme music as well for it’s seriousness and intensity. However this has to beat it – the grandeur and even optimism (as contradictory as that may seem) of this piece of music is simply marvelous!
