my sony dv camcorder wont play the tapes back?

it used to work all the time but i just tryed to watch it again and it plays but the screen just stays blue is it cause the heads are dirty?

A blue screen usually means the tape’s blank. Assuming it isn’t, you’ve either got a very dirty playback head or it’s broken.
