   You will be limited on how close you can zoom in on pictures. If you looking for fine detail, this won’t work, but if you zooming in on a graph, it should blow it up for you.

   First thank you for the quick answer. are the enlargement zoom in or will only the text be enlarged. so, can i look closer on pictures(tables, diagram) in books (zoom in on them) or will only the text be enlarged and thing like pictures are still fixed size?

   The Sony reader won’t do color, just black and white and grey. If they are scans it should work fine. It can have trouble with enlargements. I downloaded some pdfs from Google Books (which are scanned older books) and it read it fine. I could not enlarge it as much as other books, but I could still enlarge it.

   I also thinking of getting one to read all those pdf i have. Does the enlargement function also with 2 or more column text? What is about those old pdf-books, which are scans and therefore just pictures? Can you read them on the Sony? I am further concerned because a lot of my pdf are quite colorful. how does the sony perform with those kind of files? can you please help me with those questions.

   In the past, the pdfs stunk for the Sony Reader. With the new firmware upgrade, it reads them beautifully. The book downloaded from overdrive is pdf and you can see the result. In the past, I would have said no, but now, it works great.
