Yeah, they are …
Yeah, they are rechargeable. I also found the batteries on ebay for relatively cheap, so if I do get this camera I’ll stock up on extra batteries. The nice thing about standard batteries (AA’s, etc) is that you can find them anywhere…so you’ll never be out of commission due to loosing a charger, forgetting to bring the extra batteries, waiting for the thing to charge, etc. And even then you can also still use rechargeable AA’s if you wish to.

Snorkeling, Taking …
Snorkeling, Taking pictures of aquarium fish, and of course just taking pictures in air without having to worry about what is going to happen if it does get exposed or submerged (like say, at a waterpark or while boating or fishing).
My supervisor (a photography nut) recommended this camera to me, and I’m strongly considering it. He said the biggest downside was that it doesn’t take standard batteries. I have to be honest – that does make me concerned!

Why is it only 72 pixels / inch at quality level * and ** and *** on my Pentax Optio W30? Only Size increase but not the quality. My Sony, Kodak and Nikon has 72/300/ 480 levels….
