The prices are the same for both the PS3 40GB & BDPS350 Blue Ray Player @ $399.00
So my question is, if I watch Blue Ray movies 99% of the time, am I giving up any quality by buying a PS3. Is there a catch in buying the PS3? Please let me know.
the only real catch is that it does not have a true remote. this was the downside with the ps2 when it first came out too when people bought it for a dvd player. the ps3 also doesnt have infared so you cant just use a universal remote with it. they do make a bluetooth remote though. but thats at least $30. but with ps3 your getting a firmware upgradable blu ray player that is also much faster then the standalone players. it might seem strange to use a game machine for movies but thats what it was meant for. its an entertainment machine. you also get a great game console free of charge which is hard to beat.

I would also recommend the playstation three. There is no loss of image or audio quality. In fact, the PS3 actually offers more in the way of features for your blu-ray movies; such as DTS-MasterAudio decoding. The internet connectivity makes installing updates a breeze and, despite the faster startup time on the 350 (as compared to the 300) the playstation is still faster from power-on to play.
