In just a few words, I will say this, the alpha 350 is a great camera for a first time SLR photographer, it is inexpensive, and is very user friendly. As a long time Sony camera photographer, I highly recommend this particular camera for those who want to experiment with manual settings and have the ability to have a great auto shot if needed. The focal points add to picture quality and use of the super steadshot gives a clear picture even with minimal movement. Enjoy!
Pro : Lightweight, User Friendly, Low Cost, Super SteadyShot
    Con : Burst Speed

I was shopping for a entry level DSLR and looked at the Sonys as well as other brands. When I saw the A350 I realized that a 14MP was well under $1000. I had read reveiws that the Sonys had very intuitive menus and that turned out to be true. I learned very quickly the basics of the camera, although with any camera at this complexity I would recomend buying a book on the specific camera (I've been very pleased with the book by David Busch, Sony A350,300,200).
The camera also has a flip screen which I find very useful for shooting waist level or over my head, say in a crowd or to help compostion. Unfortunatly it doesn't swivel. I am so pleased with the results I'm getting. The software for RAW images is excellent. Better than PS Elements or Lightroom in my veiw. Like most DSLRs the stock len isn't the best, but it's a decent starting point. Good color and sharp images.
Pro : 14 MP, User freindly, Moderate cost, Flip screen
Con : Focal length not shown, Flip screen doesn't rotate

You get a lot of DSLR for a very low price. Overall, it has great build and image quality, just as expected from Sony… What I find great is that it works with all of my old Analog Minolta lenses. For the price, you can't really expect any more, but a higher FPS, brighter and larger viewfinder and PC tethering function would be nice. But then again, you can get all that in the a700 if you really need it. Given the choice, I would probably by the a700 next time around (even though it has no Live View). Overall though, the a350 is a very good camera, which comes at a a very decent price!
Pro : High Quality, Tiliting Screen, 14.2 MegaPixels, Image Quality, Works with Minolta AF lenses
Con : Somewhat Low FPS, Average Viewfinder, No Tethering
