have had it for a year and used it perhaps a dozen times. It began skipping on brand new discs, and then failed completely when the "menu" light came on and system locked up.
An utter piece of junk.
Pro : great picture
Con : poor reliability

Got this for Christmas 2007. Everything was going great until I needed a firmware update. A firmware update only after one year? Are you kidding me? I couldn't watch new Blueray disks until I made the update. The player does not have a USB jack to upload the firmware update directly to the player. Had to create a disk from the Sony website. The load time is completely ridiculous. Takes way too long. The picture is awesome but buy another player if you can.
Pro : Great Picture
Con : Slow Load Time/Firmware update required after only 1 yr

This was a christmas present in 2007 and has never worked well. It takes forever to load and when it finally does it freezes. However it never seems to freeze during the previews, only during the movie section and there is no way to get it to work unless you start all over again. It has taken us over 30 minutes to actually start a movie. I would not recommend this product to anyone. This has to be the worst Sony product I have ever had.
Pro : Great Picture when it works
Con : Freezes up constantly
