A five megapixel, Super HAD CCD imager, 12X optical zoom lens and a large 2.5-inch LCD are just a few of the features on this model that are sure to please even the choosiest photo buff.
With a focal length range of 36 – 432 millimeters (a 35mm equivalence) the DSC-H1 camera lets you frame distant objects with ease. Making the most of this telephoto reach, Sony’s Super Steady Shot optical image stabilization feature counteracts camera-shake to ensure sharp images. This feature also benefits low-light photography by allowing the use of longer shutter speeds with reduced risk of image blur from camera-shake.
Sony’s Real Imaging Processor circuitry is incorporated in the model for better battery efficiency, more responsiveness and high quality movie taking, while seven preset scene modes allow quick selection of the best setting for specific shooting conditions. The camera also includes a five-area, multi-point auto focus to help you concentrate on the subject without mistakenly focusing on the background, as well as aperture/shutter priority and manual exposure modes for creative control of the image. For added convenience, the model has 32 MB of internal memory (30 MB of usable memory) and a Memory Stick flash media slot. PictBridge compatibility enables prints in a flash when the camera is connected to an enabled printer.

I've had it only for about 2 weeks, but everything I've tried to do with it, works! It's a simple camera to use with sophisticated features. I'm 68 yrs. old and I can operate it with no trouble at all.
Pro : It has everything I want in a camera
Con : Haven't found any

I bought this camera as a replacement for a Sony DSC-P10, which I broke. I wanted to get something similar yet better, and I did! This camera is fantastic. It does just about everything we used to do in a darkroom but without the chemicals. I can customize the settings or simply set everything to automatic for poin-and-shoot. It does drain the batteries a bit when everything is turned on and shooting movies or photo-bursts, but I still get a good hour out of the rechargeable batteries. Pricey, yes, in a way, but a great camera so far. I gave the support a 4 because of the complexity of the manual that comes with the camera.
Pro : Ease of use and many features
Con : battery life

This camera has everything and more. Easy to use, but still capable of fully manual modes. I work at a camera shop, and it's our top seller. Customers can believe they can get such a wonderful picture from a digital. The image stabalization is wonderful. When you get into the loger zoom ranges, you need it to get a good, quality photo. And, you can order tons of accessories for this camera through Sony. It's a wonderful buy, and it's a camera that won't be obsolete anytime soon. The only bad thing… doesn't have a hot shoe for an external flash unit.
Pro : Good, QUALITY photos for the price.
Con : no hot shoe

I hesitated to change from my Minolta Maxuum 7 35mm camera, because I like to take good pictures. I did not think digital did as well. I am glad I tried it! FANTASTIC! Excellent zoom, easy to use.
Pro : The whole camera is great!
Con : Manual could be better, but cd helps

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H1 Digital Camera has great quality. The pictures you take, when viewed, are like you're there. It's especially wonderful in the sun light. There's a great zoom, and it focuses great, a problem I've had with other cameras. The only problem is, like other cameras, the time from when you click, to when it takes is a painfully long time, and causes you to miss a lot of great shots. It has some great features, but it can take a while to figure out how to get to them. The large size wasn't my favorite, but others use to this camera size probably won't mind. The LCD is WONDERFUL!
Pro : Large LCD, quality

hi all,
Bought the DSC-H1 about a month back, after a lot of delebration.
It has good color reproduction,
Easy one handed operation for all the basic functions(Amazing)
The 12x Zoom is really good and even at 5.1 Megapixel it compensates for shakey hands.
I whish it were a little cheaper though.
Pro : Good Clarity, Decent Flash, good 12x optical zoom
Con : accessories hard to find

My husband upgraded me after our son was born to this from the 4 mega pixel model. Friends and family are always commenting on the better image quality, and it's pretty easy for a novice like myself to use. I just miss the ease and "spontinaity" that my old model had.
Pro : easy to use for novice, image quality,

I have had my DSC-H1 for a couple of months and really love it .. It is easy to use and the results are great …I have online albums and get great comments about the new work I have been putting on line..I have taken over 1000 photos and have not had any issues with my camera at all …I had tried severl other cameras before buying this one including Canon Rebel which I hated.. I had so many issues with it and the service, that I returned it and asked for my money back ..The Sony beats it hands down ..
Pro : Zoom,simplicity,size, weight,price
Con : size of memory stick with camera …

I have found that with the teleconverter lense that i found online for about $100, this camera produces professional quality pictures, especially if you are using it for wildlife photography
Pro : Has an affordable Teleconverter option
Con : Does not support Raw format
