Feels snug in your hands, comparable in size and features to the Canon G6, Canon S3 IS and the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7.

Image quality is outstanding, best among the pack. Optics is very good, nice 12X zoom.

Battery life is outstanding, uses just two AAs and lasts for more than 300 shots. But be careful when using USB connection to PC – that tends to drain the battery.

The only two short comings are:
    ——————————-
    1. Image stabilization – not as good as the competition, but still works.

    2. Accepts only memory stick DUO, not even the old memory sticks.

If you are like me and do not depend on image stabilization for getting good pictures, then this is the best camera in its range.

If you have very unsteady hands and must have image stabilization at the cost of image quality, you should check out either the Canon S3 IS or the Panasonic DMC-FZ7.
Pro : Optics, Image quality, Electronics, Features, Battery Life
Con : Limited to Memory stick Duo, Optical stabilizer not as good as the competition

I just got this camera a week ago, and so far it has been pretty easy going. It has a great zoom and with 6 Mp, great picture quality. Seems to work better outside, but inside pictures are still pretty good. If you're looking for a camera that is easy to use as soon as you open it, this is a good choice. However,if you want to get more pictures out of your memory card then you will have to go through and change a few settings. Comes with 2 manuals, one manual is for common sense things and it really helps a lot when you first use your camera, and then there is a more in-depth manual. Overall, if you want a camera that is reasonablly priced and has a great zoom, and easy to use basic picture taking settings right out of the box then i would say get this camera. Basically you can pop in the batteries right away and start taking pictures on automatic settings with pretty good results(good for normal sized print-outs and taking the averae everyday photo), or you can fidget around with the controls and get great results. The menu is also very easy to use, and the manuals are easy to follow.
    Pro : Zoom, MP's, Price
Con : Big Learning curve for technical stuff

This camera is a dream for any photographer who wants great picture quality and flexibility with the option to leave it on auto and still get good results. I have gotten wonderful results and am more impressed with the camera the more I learn.

Only a couple of minor Cons:
    1. The flash takes a long time to re-charge between shots. This is probably because the camera only uses 2-AA batteries and is very efficient in power conservation.

    2. There is a High ISO (1000 speed) setting that works but is so "grainy" that I would not suggest using it.

    3. I seem to hit the control buttons on the back of the camera by accident alot.

For the price, this is a VERY GOOD camera!
Pro : Picture quality, Zoom, Close focus, Battery life
Con : Cycle time for flash, High ISO setting

This camera has a good optical. fast AF. I have no problem taking shot while object is moving. I can trust the white balance. The output photo's colour is nice, though with a lil purple fringing when shooting with glaring background. With the price i paid, this camera is packed with lots of features. Other than dSLRs, this is the best camera around.

the only complain is the flimsy mini-usb port cover. it uses some rubber as the hinge. i prefer it made of something like the battery cover. it does have noise at higher ISO but i wish that it comes with a larger sensor (1/1.7 ").
Pro : Good optical, value for money
    Con : flimsy usb cover

I've bought this camera about one month.
and i've taken lots of pictures in almost every situation with it.
at first i wanted to by "Canon S3 IS" but at last i chose H2 and my friend chose S3 IS .
if i want to compare these two great cameras i would say:

    Picture Qualty:
Both are great but i like h2 colors more.(Thats my personal opinion)

    Battery:
H2 is better because it uses 2 AA batteries and can take more than 300 pictures ,it has rechargable batteries and charger included.

    Value :
    H2 is cheaper.

    Movie mode:
S3 is great ,it recoreds movies with stereo sound !!So wonderful.but when it comes to size of the movie H2 it better because it compresses the movies and you can recored more….

    Memory:
Obviously S3 is better because it uses SD card.

    Macro:
Although in macro specifications S3 seams stronger but when i compare these two cameras is macro mode (picturing the flowers) H2 takes down the s3 very very easily,i mean h2's macro mode is super great especialy in picturing the flowers ,insects and …

there were many more thing that i wanted to say but I
    DON'T WANT TO WRITE A BOOK,so i just say
if i had another chance to choose between S3 AND H2
    I would choose H2
Pro : Great color ,Sharp results
Con : High Iso ,LCD Resolution,Memory

I have had no real complaints with this camera since purchasing it in July. We vacation regulary at the ocean in Florida and for National baseball games in St. Louis. I could get every detail of the pitchers throw with the speed of the shot and the zoom (we sit at the very top of the stadium) that this camera possesses. When we went to the beach the pictures were clear and the colors were amazing. We just attended a Blue Angels Airshow and I push continuous shot and got frame by frame pictures of the jets overhead and in front of me. This camera really does what it says. As far as image stabilization, the first time I noticed a minor problem with it was at the airshow, when I would move very quickly, my shots came out great for the most part. Just be sure to have a lot of AA batteries/extra rechargeables around to make sure you can capture all the sites you want. I go through many batteries.
Pro : Zoom and quality of pictures, timing of shots
Con : battery life, if not rechargeable

Ok people, the good news though is those running Win98 SE, the H1 software is compatible and works fine with the Sony H2 camera. I had my doubts about it until I called Sony Tech Support and was advised that the H2 will work with the H1 software. Other than that everything is pretty much old hat for those used to the H1. However I couldn't see any real difference in picture quality using 6.1 megapixels over 5.1 megapixels. New user's to the CyberShot as always read the Blue Read This First pamphlet first. As with the H1 the H2 batteries require six hours charging time before inserting into the camera.
Pro : To many to mention
Con : H2 Software will not install on Win98SE

What I most like in this camera is its zoom. Lot of people already emphasize it, let me just add that the 12X zoom plus digital zooming feature truly work with this camera. Also, I was really satisfied when I took a picture of a fast moving car (both zooming and not zooming).
One thing I don't like is that the flash takes too long to get ready for the next shooting. Even the processing takes long. I could miss lot of wonderful moment when I took picture of e.g. games.
I haven't tried yet all possibilities in manual mode.
Pro : Strong zoom, excellent digital zooming, good quality picture
Con : flash recharges too slowly, shutter speed isn't the best

I guess its come down for us consumers to have to put up lately with massed produced plastic so called mid level cameras or go without. I had narrowed my choice down to the Canon S3 IS or the Sony H2 but I must admit when I picked up a S3 I was shocked at the cheap construction, it felt like a cheap plastic toy. Making a camera light is one thing but lets face it they are way overdoing it now. The price of these cameras should at the very least be some sort of metal body.

I can't say the H2 is much better in it's use of cheap plastic. The H2 has some nice features and needing a camera I went with it. I will not buy a camera that does not use AA batteries. Many cameras use special batteries now that are hard to find and cost is ridiculous to say the least! I won't even consider a Kodak or Panasonic with it's high cost special batteries.

Sony should have used 4 AAs not 2 for the flash unit. And a higher res LCD screen. I will say the EVF is great on this camera. Setup buttons are good and well placed and picture quality is good, as is the 12X zoom. I sure wish camera makers would get their acts together and settle on one type of media instead of SD,MS,XD etc.etc,etc.

Sony used to make well made solid cameras and I am extremely disappointed in their ever increasing use of cheap plastic instead of metal. If this camera was metaL AND USED 4 AAs I would give it 5 stars but not as it stands now. It's time we consumers started demanding better quality and construction or quit buying until they do so.
Pro : Nice lense, nice style
Con : Cheaply made, shame on you Sony!

I have 2 of the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H2 Digital Cameras. I loved my first one, I got a second. The pics come out crystal clear and the zoom is great. I have dropped it several times, left one out in the rain, kicked, etc. and it keeps going without any flaws. I use this camera for every day shots and for professional photography. It's an excellent choice. When I bought mine when they first came out they were big bucks, but you can get them cheaper now. A lot of people go for the Nikons, Minoltas, etc. but Sony cameras are excellent cameras. Their are many functions for on this camera and all come out great! Make sure you know how to use it and study your manual. I love this camera and it's attached to my hip!
    Pro : Reliabilty-Awesome Pics!
Con : I can't think of any cons!
