I have to smile that some people find the lack of time and date thing a con. Given the superb quality of the camera and the images, I'm not sure why you'd want the date on them.
I've had this camera a few months now and have tried photographing everything from tiny aphids to landscapes, water splashes, portraits and all sorts. The camera performs remarkably and has given me some very impressive photos. It's almost like I know what I'm doing.
The camera comes in either black or silver, I have the black one and with the lense hood attached (provided with the camera) it really does look the business.
The 3" screen at the back is superb in all conditions and to me the batteries last for ages before needing a recharge. You can easily knock off a few hundred photos (with flash) on a full charge. The images are rich in colour and very sharp. The ones I've taken that were not so good were pilot error and not as a result of the camera.
The 12x optical zoom is stunning, you can add the digital zoom on top giving a 54x "smart zoom" but I never use the digital side. The 12x optical is more than enough. Better still with image stabilization switched on, shots on full optical zoom are sharp.
The only weak point I can find is the slow burst rate which is around 1.1 – 1.4 seconds in the "burst modes". Doesn't sound a lot but when you are trying to capture that important moment, you can get a shot just before and just after it happens. In addition, trying to catch high speed things like water splashes can be a hit and miss affair. When you press the button, there is a very slight pause before the shutter is released and so again for high speed things you have to time it just right. When you do though, the results are stunning.
The hood provided with the camera has a 58mm thread and so different lenses can be attached to the camera, adding to the already superb features. I tried it with a 10x,4x,2x and 1x macro lense all screwed together and the thing almost becomes a microscrope. Superb.
All in all, I have no regrets whatsoever buying this camera, and after seeing my photos, theree of my friends have bought one also.
Pro : Macro, LCD Screen, Telephoto, colours, clarity ….
Con : Burst speed.

Had the H5 about a month now, no problems at all with it. Really enjoy all its features especially the large 3" screen which I don't need to put my glasses on to read or view pics. I got a skylight filter to protect the lens. I bought a case from sony and it is very awkward to put on the camera after taking it off. I also noticed it is very easy to fumble (accidental) with the controls but that might be just me. In any event it is a good buy for a medium price camera. The idea of a built in lens hood that stores on the lens itself is unique. The lens has great wideangle and telephoto ranges, no need for other lenses at all. Overall you cannot go wrong with this camera. I do suggest you don't buy the case from Sony, go to a camera store for a better fitting one.
Pro : Tons of features, excellent value, great zoom
Con : No date stamp, Sony camera case

I have only had this camera 24hours. And I have taken 43 photos so far.
ll but one came out absolutely stunning. The only problem I had with one photo, was some red eye, but a good photo editing program can usually fix that right up.
I haven't had time to check out all the features yet, but just by taking those 43 photos without touching any settings, produced some excellent quality photos.
I love the hand grip. Makes it easier to handle. The camera is bigger than any of my other digital cameras, but it doesn't bother me. You cannot fit it into your pocket like some can. But I don't put mine in my pocket anyway.LOL.
I would recommend this camera. I am no pro photographer, but the photos looks like I am.
My friends said the photos are stunning and beautiful.
My camera came with 2 HR^ (size AA) Nickel-Metal Hydride rechargeable batteries, battery charger, lens hood (for taking outdoor or bright light photos) and an adapter ring, in case you want to buy a lens attachment later on. It also came with a nice size owner's manual book and a CD with the driver and a couple of photo editing programs. There was also a neck or shoulder strap and a lens cover with a thin strap to keep from losing it. It also came with a USB cord and an A/V cable
The LCD screen is pretty big and clear. You can choose to look at the LCD screen when taking photos or switch to look through the optical viewer.
I recommend buying a 1GB or larger memory Stick Duo as the internal memory is small and will only hold about 3-5 quality images. I also recommend buying a good weather proof camera bag to keep it safe.
Pro : easy to hold, clear, crisp photos, lots of features…
Con : None as far as I can tell. Some say a con is that is has no date stamp, but personally, that doesn't bother me. I don't like having the date plastered on my photos.

I had a Sony Mavica MVC-FD95 for about 5 years until it broke, I saw this one and fell in love. Some people complain about the case, but I think the case is really nice, if you have the black one anyways, the silver looks sort of cheap. I love the support for more lenses and the huge LCD is spoiling me. The viewfinder isn't quite the best one I've seen, but I never use it anyways. I'd say this is one of the nicer point and shoot cameras I've handled. The lighting can get sort of tricky sometimes, but there's so many options that it's usually easy to work around. Another gripe I have is that I can't auctally just point and shoot, you have to hold the button down and let it auto focus, which can cause you to miss a few good shots.
Pro : Lots of nice features, there are alot of diffrent shooting modes, Color is amazing, Details are freakin' wonderful.
Con : Battery life leaves something to be desired, also occasionally it's tough to get the lighting you want.

I had this camera about a week and have given it a pretty good workout. I am used to shooting a Canon 20D, so this little camera takes some getting used to. The image quality is wonderful for outdoor photography and once you get the flash output set correctly, for mine it works well at -1/3 stop, it works pretty well inside too.
Two problems I have noticed is the very short battery life, I mean 50 pix or so, that's crazy.
And low light focusing, meaning indoors with flash.
So far I give it a B+. The zoom and steadycam are great and easy to use. The movie mode works well too.
Pro : Image quality
Con : Battery life

I've had my H5 for some 18 months now at least and its been all over the world with me. I love this camera producing excellent pics for minimal effort. As an amateur photographer though demanding a bit more from what a 'snap n shoot', I love playing around with the different settings to get different effects. Its quite a flexible camera. Taking night shots is wonderful. Set it up on a tripod and set it to keep the apature open and you get beautiful pro looking shots that would be appreciated by friends and family.
The strong inbuilt flash is also good, got a lot of strength to it.
I agree with previous comments that the timing on burst shots could be a bit more responsive. My real gripe though, is that the battery charge runs down too quick for my liking. I've learnt to carry three sets of batteries around on my travels, armed with the battery recharger cradle. I'm frequently away from home; sometimes up to weeks a time away. I find I'm forever recharging them after a good days worth of snapping away. I would never in future, buy another camera that needs to charge the batteries out of the camera. I prefer to put the camera in a cradle or charge the camera with batteries in, direct. Having siad this, i understand as an option one could buy a cable to charge it direct??? I have never explored this so guess this is my fault.
All in all, my camera is well traveled, been knocked around a lot, and taken thousands of pics. And it still works great.
I confess that I was intending to advance myself and purchase a D SLR. Hav't quite decided what to get and i was comparing certain models with my H5. Having read these reviews and really thought about what I have been through with my H5, I'm having second thoughts. My loyalties may keep me with the H5 for a while longer!
Pro : Above average 'snaps' for little effort
Con : Battery life

I have had this model now for 5months and i am still extremely happy with the versatility of this camera. Loads of options and easy to use, with a great LED sceen. Would recomend this product.
Pro : Number of shoot modes, great zoom, easy to use
Con : Only that the Lens hood obstructs the flash

I have been using Sony DSC H5 for the last 3 months and extremely happy with the results. The LCD screen is enormous and previewing images is a pelasure, but the fallout is in batterylife. If you keep the LCD on, battery life is miserable — I did not put that as a con, because I believe it is expected. The lenshood shadow is a pain, especially while doing fill-in flash with the sun facing the camera – night shots, I have to remember to remove it. Otherwise, output quality is awesome
Pro : Loads of features, large LCD screen, crisp colors
Con : Lenshood obstructs flash

Excellent option i am convince
Pro : quality and definition, great mix between zoom and quality with 7.2 megapixels
Con : maybe its body look fragile

It was the best camera i have worked with so far. But trust me if you look online you will find a lot of problems with this camera. After a few months it will loose its auto focus feature. It really is a wide design problem which sony has not accepted yet. My camera is currently under repair for same problem. when i did a research i found that many others had this problems too. I hope this one wont have any other issues now. Its an excellent camera but is not reliable over time.
Pro : excellent quality pictures, very sharp pictures, nice video capturing features
Con : Autofocus, flash charging time
