I bought this camera last weekend. Not being a real digital pro.I found I had to look at booklet a number of times to figure out what I was doing.Second outing was much better. The photos are great with all the details showing up very clearly ,even when enlarged to max. I did buy 1 gig of memory. Also will buy another battery as a back up.
I feel this camera is a real value for the buck and I recommend it completely. You can't go wrong if you learn to play with it.
Pro : Takes great photos and No distortion in enlargements
Con : Instructions a little difficult to follow,Hoiwever if read a couple of times if makes sence

I had the older model of this camera and LOVED it, but it was stolen.

I set out to get a new camera. In general, this camera is great. The picture quality is great, there is almost no shutter lag, it's lightweight, and has almost all of the same great features my last camera had.

The problem is that when the Lens Cap is on and the camera is turned on, it will automatically push the lens cap off. The lens cap will come off it you simply tug at it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but once it does that too many times, won't it wear out and not stay on anymore?

On the old camera, the lens cap stayed put and when the camera was turned on, a message showed on the LCD that said "Lens Cap Attached". This feature seriously needs to be reinstated into the new models of this camera. For this reason, I returned the camera. Once the lens cap wears out, there's nothing to protect the lens.

Love it, but that's a flaw I can not live with.
Pro : Quality, Clarity, Lightweight, No Shutter lag
    Con : Lens Cap

My 3rd "serious" digital camera. first was a 5 MP Sony Mavica that recorded straight to compact CDs. Absolutely love that camera but only has a 3x optical zoom. "Upgraded" a couple of years ago to a 5 MP Fuji S5200 to get the 10x optical zoom (I attend a lot of auto races, ballgames & concerts) but after use felt the Fuji lens let the rest of the camera down soooo, it was back to Sony and this camera. I felt the combination of 8.1 MP, 15x optical zoom & the Zeiss lens would suit my needs for the foreseeable future and, so far, I believe this will be the case.
First test was a mid-April Mets/Phillies game with a 4:00 PM start time. Photos taken ranged from field boxes prior to game at 3:00 to shots taken from the main concouse around 7:00 when it was starting to get quite dark. With good light this camera takes wonderful action photos and the continuous shooting feature works great. as the light decreased the photos tended to get grainier, though nothing you would probably get crazy about unless you were looking to do enlargements. Came away very satisfied.
The next weekend we attended an outdoor concert on an overcast day. We were probably 50' from the stage and the 15x zoom did exactly what I bought the camera for. Not only were the photos crisp & clear, the female artist was having trouble with one of her false eyelashes coming off and the camera very clearly picked this up….awesome! Next weekend is a NASCAR race in Richmond. Can't wait for that one!
Back to the camera…lens cap is annoying,(rechargable)battery life better than expected, LCD is very bright/clear though I still find myself primarily using the viewfinder.
Bought my DSC-7 as a refurbished unit straight from Sony for $269. added a 2G memory card that brought total to $309. Opened a Sony credit card account and they took $100. off my bill. GREAT deal!
Pro : 15X Optical Zoom, light weight, Zeiss Lens
Con : Lens cap, Low light results could be better

This camera is really nice for its price. The image quality is OK but the pictures in low light look grainy.

Con : Does not take inside pic. good

I love this camera, takes great photos, and you can even edit them a lil on the camera itself. The Zoom doesnt work very wellif you're standing to close, and if you're using the flash, there's a shadow that shows up if you hold the camera to close. Light weight, but kind of Clunky if you want to carry it around, and if you try to take a pic of yourself, the camera can eaasily fall out of your hands unless you wrap the camera strap around your wrist a couple times;P.
The only bad thing is my shutter button popped off one day, so I have to hold whats left of the shutter button down a couple times for the camera to take a pic.
After a while of using this camera, as well as with my Sony Cybershot DSC-P41 the screen gets a little shakey, and then takes blurry photos, and every now and then the camera will malfuntion and take pics with lines thru it.
All in all, I like this camera, but I want to buy the smaller version of it, the H9 so I can carry around in purse.
Pro : Very fast, great pictures, light wieght
Con : A little Clunky,My shutter button popped off, the flash casts shadows at close range

I take this camera everywhere & it has never failed me; no matter what it always takes a good picture. At the end of the zoom once in a picture can get slightly blurred but that is only with digital zoom on. Otherwise excellent camera
Pro : Takes very good high def pictures. Good lens, a lot of features
Con : Lens cap not the best

I have tried several settings but none have helped get rid of the grainy low light images. This camera is so good, I might be doing something wrong. If I figure it out I will repost with the solution. Other than that this is by far the best digital camera I have owned (I have owned 7 or 8)
Pro : Awesome outdoor pictures, great color
    Con : Grainy indoor pictures
