Sony Cyber-Shot T900 reviews?
2009
Anyone have any experience with one of these camera’s? The Sony Cyber Shot T900, I looking into this camera as a graduation gift. From my research it seems like they are a good camera for the price. She just wants a good point and click camera for normal everyday pictures (vacation, parties, nights out, etc). Thanks for your help, I know nothing about camera’s so any advise is appreciated.
I think the camera is a great novelty camera. This is an addition to my Digital SLR. It’s very thin and light. There is a 4X zoom, but it does not protrude, which I think is nice. It’s all touch screen which I like (except for fingerprints), but It may take some getting used too. The 3 inch diagonal screen allows for a great view of photo and movie playback.
I have not taken many photos, but the ones I have taken are very good. I have taken more movies than photos (grandchildren) and the are of excellent quality. Exposure levels are also very good and uniform.
I have not tried to play them back on my HDTV but I have made a DVD and they look very good on an upconvert DVD player.
I have used the face and smile detection feature which work very well. You can adjust the sensitivity of the smile detection.
A couple of negative things that I have read relate to low flash output in some situations (I have not experienced this), and short battery life which I have not compared. When I took about 10 photos and mostly movies the battery lasted a little over 1 hour, but remember, in movie mode the camera is running continuously. I recommend buying a spare battery, which I have always done for all my cameras. It’s worth the $30-$50 investment. You would hate to have your camera die just at the wrong time.
For what the camera is and does, and how it does it, I am not disappointed in my purchase. I think you may want to read some other reviews, compere the features to other cameras, and see if they are the ones that you want. And remember, it’s a point and shoot camera. Good luck!

Sony’s touch screen navigation can take a little time to get used to, they’re a bit complex. But other than that it’s great. I especially like how slim it is, and the flip cover, and how the lens don’t protrude.
