   This sony camcorder is a junk I tell you, if you already bought it i recommend getting additional warranty for it, mine have a broken LCD screen, it powers up but lcd has no picture in it and this unit keeps turning off for no reason. You know how much Sony charges to get this junk fixed a friggin $271.00 holy cow when in ebay new one cost round $400.

    Perhaps you should read what it says on the troubleshooting manual which it comes with I am sure it will give you instructions when such problem arises. No doubt Sony products are known for quality as well as durability. Did you get this camera used or brand new?

    Read the specs just about anywhere. It has Sony’s Steadyshot I.S.

    However, its electronic I.S. and not optical I.S. so its not the best.

    Specs also say that it utilizes MPEG-2, not MPEG-1.

    I’m not sure if this model is still available, but I saw DCR-DVD808, which is DVD version of sr200 but only 4megapixels still image. It ranges from 30-35 thousand pesos or 665-775 dollars..

    Hey stupid chuckerboy the sr200 is one of the best camcorder in its class and price range..It has also an image stabilization for recording videos i know because i have one myself and i have no complaints whatsoever the picture quality is amazing.

Here are the MAJOR cons: No port on cam to download data. You have to use the dock. No image stabilization. MAJOR CON! Only records in MPEG-1 format. If your a Mac user, NO GOOD!

    Well, im sorry that you got a defective unit but my camera(dcr sr200) works great. Quality of video and function is as new, not to mention this camera is japan made which means its durable. I bought mine since apr 07 for $670 via web when it came out so i cant complain. Your camera should have a warranty like mine does.
