Sony DCR-Trv720 DV port to HP 1394 firewire port does not work?

My Sony digital 8 camcorder with a DV output port does not work with the HP 1394 port. I have the right 4pin to 4 pin cable but still no go. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks

Is the camcorder in Play mode?

Are you expecting something to automatically happen?

Have you launched MovieMaker (or whatever editor you are using) and tried to capture or import the video?

Have you tried WinDV (I’ve seen it work when other importing methods did not).

Have you tried resetting the camcorder to factory default settings?
