This is a great camera if you got the cash. The real upgrade from the vx2000(the older one) is the sound, and that the record buttens and zoom are not only on the body but also on the handle. I am going to go out on a lim here and say this is the best prosumer camera on the market.
p.s. dont buy the canon gl2 its the same thing as the gl1 only bigger and more expensive. Also buying on ebay is a risk. I was just almost skamed but at the last second relized it and did not pay. Good luck and may the queen be with you.

I knew this camera would have good low light capabilities but I had no idea they would be this good. The image stabilizer works great and there are many manual controls, but works great in auto mode too. Both audio and video quality are great. I would say this is a great camera, you get what you pay for. It's well worth the money.

I like the size (not too heavy, not too light). It's color LCD viewfinder makes it easy to concentrate on the frame (unlike the Canon XL1S). It's battery life lasts long minutes. I have used the Canon XL1S, but I prefer the Sony VX2100.
Pro : Outstanding in low-light, light size, color LCD viewfinder, easy focus ring and aperture controls.
Con : Doesn't have an XLR input/output, but you can solve that problem by purchasing a 3-feet XLR mic jack extention
