Sony Digital Betacam Introduction

2009

Here is a video my dad worked on in the early 90′s for Sony and Earthquake Productions. This video showcases the then state-of-the-art DVW-700 Digital Betacam. My dad (the guy with the mustache) is the camera operator / steadicam guy. This video was shot over a 7 day period in the beautiful eastern region of Japan. I hope you guys can enjoy this blast from the past.

PS: I will have another video up my dad worked on in the late 90′s that features the XDCAM.

The DVW 700 is still one of my SD favourite cameras – it has the best skin tones & colormentry. I think the “look” on all other Digi Beta’s after the 700 went down hill. The 700 had the “Digital 1000″ CCD blocks – same as in the Digital BVP550 docking head. . I’d love a HD system with the same look in HD. I believe 60 Minutes Australia may still be using 16×9 700′s
