I got this player as a gift. The quality of the picture and sound (with headphones) is outstanding. The battery pack lasts at least 5 hours (advetised for 6)which makes it wonderful for trips. The controls are easy to understand. The extras: remote control, connector cables, car adapter and charger cables are a plus.
Pro : Picture resolution, sound quality, Ease of Use

I had a Proteon 7" DVD portable player and it broke twice in just over a year. The Sony has outstanding picture and audio quality, and the unit's case is made out of metal compared to the plastic cases in low-cost models. The Sony is engineered to be a portable device.
Thankfully, I bought an exchange warranty on the other device so I was able to exchange it for the Sony – save yourself the trouble – buy a better quality unit and avoid the hassles of cheaper units which break a lot
Pro : Metal Case Design; Sony engineering, features
