This device is a very small and lightweight device that packs a great punch along the lines of reception and features. The battery standby time is listed as 10 days, although I don't think I get quite that much. It stores a load of contacts and uses the SIM chip which allows you to save your contacts on a detachable chip to be transferred to a different phone. Excellent entry phone. You will not be disappointed.
    Pro : compact, lightweight.
Con : Haven't had any yet

the graphics could stand a little improvment. But the colors are bright and nice to look at. It is fairly durable contrary to what that guy ( cyc_cmw) says. i've dropped mine a couple of times and it never even flickered. the reception is just like a regular telephone (which suprised me). and it has all the cool features that you could need up to this point (speaking for the average person). My wife has one of those cool expensive samsung flip phones with all the bells and whistles. My S. Ericson has all the same features with out the cool display. this phone is a great value and is worth it especially if your fed up with chancy decisions on fancy expensive phones. This one is completely reliable.
Pro : small great reception features & tough
    Con : pixelated graphics

Took me a while to get used to this phone after my Nokia, but it can be done and it works well. Biggest issue is not being able to plug in car charger and headset at same time. Not great when you commute alot!
Pro : Good Graphics and features
Con : Cannot plug in car charger and headset at same time!

I love this phone. I have had it for a while now and I have had no major problems. I also have the camera attachment for it and it also works great. The phone is very light and compact. I miss having a flip phone but, for the value of this phone you can't beat it.
Pro : Small, light, cheap, great graphics,
Con : Keypad is a bit small

I upgraded to the T226 in October of 03. I got a plan with 3 226 phones so that my wife and son would also have phones. About 8 weeks after, both my wife?s and my phone started experiencing the same problem. The NO (on/off) button wouldn?t work 50% of the time. I called ATT and since we had them for over 30 days had to do a warranty exchange for $25 each. When the new phones arrived, the number pad on one did not work and I had to exchange hat one too. Now it?s been another 4 months and my phones NO button is not working once again. This is now 4 out of 7 T226 phones that I have had with some sort of problem. I would think this must be a problem with the T226.
    Pro : Price and Size
    Con : Quality

This phone is the worst phone I've ever had. It's very slow. It takes a good 30 seconds just to turn the phone on. The phone doesn't react quickly at all when pressing a button. For people on the go, this phone just doesn't get the job done. To top it off, the phone is always dropping the signal when my previous phone had no problem — and I didn't change carriers!
    Pro : small
    Con : very slow

My plan is through Cingular which has a vast calling area so I've had no problems with transmission or dropped calls. The Sony Ericcson T226 is smaller than the Motorola I had previously, is light weight, and easy to use. Adding and accessing numbers in the phonebook was very user friendly. I was able to "compose" my own unique ring. Setting up voice mail was easy. So far I love this little phone!
Pro : menu is easily navigated, programming is user friendly, live support is very good.
Con : So far I have not encountered any negative experiences

Like others here, I received my T226 as a replacement for the T68is. I read some of these reviews before I got the phone, and now that I've had it a few days, read them again. I think this phone is great. It is a downgrade phone from the T68is and not worth the $200+ which I paid for the T68is. But many times, I wanted to throw the T68is against the wall. Dropped calls, bad reception, phone freezing up. I almost left AT&T because of it, thinking it was their service. The T68is was the first phone I got using GPRS/GSM network.
The T226 reception is great. I miss some of the features that I had with the T68is, but I didn't use them much anyway. I can adjust. The most important for me is to be able to make calls, and now I can even make them from home or any other areas that I couldn't before with the T68is.

The only reason I gave this phone 4 instead of 5 stars is because it is a downgrade from the T68is. Sony Ericsson and AT&T should have replaced the T68is with one of equal or greater value. Overall, I thank them for at least giving me a phone that I can make calls with.
Pro : Stylish, lightweight, easy to use.
Con : Ringer can be louder.

OK phone, I got for free. Only problem is battery charger connection. On mine the charger cord slips out of outlet so phone looks to be at full charge but go to use it and "BATTERY LOW" comes on.
    Pro : Small Durable
    Con : battery charger
