I Should have got a …
I Should have got a shoulder mount model and not a hand held. I have seen the shoulder mounts but doubt if they are very steady. The images are clear but a pain to use. I got fed up having back ache with a steadycam and having to have a tripode in the boot of the car. It is ok for quicky use 5 or 10 mins if you don’t have to do much panning etc but no good for pro work.

If it’s anything …
If it’s anything like the HVR-Z1E it’s crap to say the least. I have one on the shelf collecting dust. Image stabalizer is crap. The post editing in Final cut pro is a nightmare as it’s tape. It cost me an arm and a leg and i would have been better off saving the money.

Yes there are many professional camcorders that use solid state storage nowadays, one example is the HVR-Z5 – we have a video on youtube. What you say about the tapes is even more of an issue on solid state formats…. Search creativevideo in google and checkout out all of the options… Thanks
