i remember being at Woolworths metro with a playable PS2 with Tekken Tag running and my jaw just dropped, since ive only just played Tekken 2 and 3 prior to that…i sorta noticed the jump in graphical textural quality compared to PSX sayin 1 day i will get to play Tekken Tag…fast forward now and i cant wait to get a slim PS3 in 3 weeks time, although im not that enthusiastic about Tekken, more on FIFA, GH Rock band games i know ill enjoy

Looking at ps2 graphics they are pretty good. Thinking of it, this was released when VHS was the choice of watching movies. Either this was a huge advancement or we give way little credit technology wise for the year 2000 era

Personally I see the whole thing as a strike against the Playstation 3.
If you recall correctly when the Ps2 came out in 2000 some developers were still making ps1 games but the problem is they simply didnt sell well since the ps2 did so well, so the ps1 was abandoned only a couple years later.
Fast foward to now, the ps3 comes out and the same thing happens, yet this time the ps2 games still sell well since ps3 just isnt doing as well as ps2 did plus making ps2 games is cheaper for developers

Not really, If you go back and play Tekken Tag, it still looks very nice and just as smooth as it did.
Sure it doesnt look “realistic” but its still very smooth, well animated etc.
Gran Turismo 3 STILL looks very nice which I really didnt expect.

Sony had as good as marketing with the playstation 2 as the dreamcast. The first models issued before 03-04 had pretty badass boxart when your comparing to the playstation 3.
