Sony took some time at their E3 2009 press conference to show off tech demos of their upcoming motion controller, a two-part controller due out in spring of next year.
The controller actually consists of two wands, which the user holds in their hands, while the PS3 camera tracks the movement and translates it into on-screen movement. The setup seems to be an evolution of the Sony waggle controller patent that surface last October. In conjuction with the camera, the motion controllers can be replaced with other items, such as guns, displaying the player on the screen holding all sorts of items.
More impressive was the level of precision the two seperate wands afforded. They acted like individual hands, allowing the demo driver to pick up objects, build items with them. The weapons demo also highlighted the device’s precision, with sword and shield work that would make Link blush.
Sony is looking release the device next spring. Hopefully they’ll have a name for it by then too.

they didnt copy it. the capabilities they demo’d far surpass that of the wii’s. stop being fanboys and just see it for what it is. ..a few years from now those virtual worlds in movies wherein we go around it using our own movements isnt far. xD

but this could be a good thing it could scare nintendo and make them there pants and realise that there fans might leave them since there not making games any more as much as they did for the other consoles and make them focus on games like a new zelda, starfox, donkey kong and others and also if sony get this right which is going to be hard since people would have to go out but the remote set it up and etc it could encouarage nintendo even more to make new and better games

thats what they should do but i have a feeling they will try and make the ps3 wii now and then ps3 will get junk like the wii has but realy think about its a copy of the wii with added stuff to it u think sony could of been a bit more original and tried to go away from the remote stuff and did what microsoft did but from what i see its the same as the wii and do u need to the camera on top of the tv for this

This isn’t meant to …
This isn’t meant to replace the regular PS3 controller. It’s just an added peripheral for casual games and maybe an option for some hardcore games. All of a sudden because of E3 everyone’s crazy over motion sensing controls. I’m glad PS3 is still focusing on traditional hardcore games too. This device isn’t meant to upstage the most important thing for the PS3 right now…the games.

and yet where is the originality besides adding dvd, and blu ray player huh i see nintendo being creative with the wii mote and everything else and Microsoft going beyond a eye toy knock and designing something more advanced and unique like Milo and letting us talk to an ai and bond and a camera that can detect if ur a male or female etc besides of coming up with a remote knock off and doing the same thing as a wii

sony should realise that it has the ps3 out allready and its been a few years and now they copy the wii remote now for the ps3? if there using the ps3 and builing up ideas for the remote for there next console than thats a better idea then they can design it from the ground up like the wii and make sure it world properly not when there allready got the ps3 out with games using the controller and every one accustemed to that
