What about the OLPC? That’s hand-cranked. so hand-cranked PC+camera is a really good idea. the pictures can then be shared using the OLPC’s p2p kit.

WTF? If they aren’t gonna have electricity to use a regular camera, how are they gonna put, or even view the pictures on/without a computer?
They better start making some hand-cranked Vaio’s.

But there are …
But there are kinetically powered laptops too. Education is the best chance for a lot of peoples future. Plus, any tecnology that gets away from needing outside power sources like batteries or electricity are going to be better for the enviroment. Don’t knock it too hard.

How are poor people …
How are poor people in third world countries suppose to afford these ‘socially responsible cameras’. This is uming that they already have a computer and access to plug it in. I agree that it is socially responsible and a good idea but people who live off of 2 dollars a day can’t afford this camera and the dock that it plugs into their invisible computer with.

This will become …
This will become much cheaper in like 10 years. Just look at computers, I bought my computer for about 6000sk (as much as 600pound or 850dollar ish) 1 year ago and now i can buy the same computer for 5000sk. So this is not stupid.
