Sony VA10 is my first notebook. I've been looking out for a notebook for years but hold off buying one until I get the one that will suit my need and my personality. Sony VA10 is a class of its own. I love the metallic casing unlike the usual black color. The screen is flat and neither too wide nor too narrow. The swappable multi-bay is very practical. The unit is so light I have no trouble bringing it along anywhere. I'm glad I waited for the right time and product before I bought a notebook. With Sony VA10, it's worth the wait.

From right out of the box, this notebook instantly recognized the wireless network in my house and connected to it with no problem at all. Its stylish design and fast response time make this a great notebook. The best thing is, its only 4.6 lbs, that really light with something that can play DVD and basically replace a desktop.

This was my 4th laptop and I must say that of the four the only one worse is a cheaper model Sony. The 2 Gateways I have are not only cheaper but are much better quality.
1st. The touchpad is horrible. If you get this computer BUY A MOUSE because you'll drive yourself crazy if you try using the touchpad.
2nd. Quality is not up to the standard you'd expect from Sony. I ordered one direct and the keypad was loose so I returned it and went to Circuit City and had to check out 3 new ones until I found one that didn't have some defect. 2 of the 3 had the same loose keyboard as the one I got direct.
3rd. Sony support is atrocious. So bad I'll never buy another Sony product again. When I had a problem with one of my Gatgeways, I called and got right through to a very knowledgable tech who walked me through a few things and determined I need to send the unit in. Within a day I had a box sent to me and I had the unit repaired and returned IN 5 DAYS! When I had a problem with this Sony I spent 15 minutes talking to a machine and when I finally got a person they were obviously in another country and honestly the machine was more helpful. All the live operator could do was read to me off a script of instructions for sending in the unit for repair. They say it'll be a minimum of 10 days to repair.
I've always looked to Sony first for all my electronics. Never again. My advice is to look for something other then Sony for your next laptop.

I've owned the 505BX for 3 weeks now and I like it alot. I wish it had a DVD-RW and a bigger HD. Other then that this is an excellent computer for any modile user. As for Gaming! I have played Vice City, Ages of Empires and Tiger Woods 2003 (under battery power) with no lag or problems. I was a little dissapointed that all the software for the computer is given to you via a 7 CD (you provide the CD's) write for recovery. So in closing….
Pos+++
Compact, Fast, versitile, great computer. WIRLESS!!!!!
Neg-
HD could be bigger
DVD-RW would be nice. but CD-RW is good.

I like my sony vaio, but the online support stinks and I hate their email support. The two times that I called them, the tech support didn't know how to fix my minor problems. But the actual laptop is nice.

I think this is a wonderful laptop. The wireless connection is fun to have as I can do stuff in the living room. I created a movie on CD and it was very easy to do. I would recommend this laptop to others

This is one of the most awesomest notebooks around. I unfortunately only had the pleasure of handeling one for a short time. I wish i still had the vaio but i will be purchasing another one soon. It is fast,multi-tactical,it's got a large capacity for everything. I would highly recommend this product to anyone.

This vaio was my first notebook. It travels well, also use at home and school. Has all the features I want, but the battery life sucks really bad. I only get 30-45min on it. Spare battery is expensive, so just end up pluging it in. Other than that it has all the hookups I want. Works good with a wireless internet system.
