I have a Sony PS LX47P Belt Driven Turntable. I replaced the belt with alcohol, cleaned and white fat, but the platter does not spin. When I click on the belt, the platter does really well, but when I put the tape on – no deal. I hear sound from the tone arm. How can I tell if something is wrong with the engine. There is a small white Pully, that the belt is about. If the engine is under this? Is there a way to check, whether the motor is working and can someone explain how to check it?

Remove the tape and turn on the turntable. When the engine is Turn the disk. It is the drive pulley for the belt. If not turn the wheel to the drive motor, try to manually (by hand). If the disc will not turn on, the engine is frozen and can not be repaired. When the disk rotates, either blown motor, or it is a bad component (switch, speed control circuit, etc.) anywhere in the engine control curcuit. Either way, it is probably economic repair (would be so expensive, you might as well get a new one).
