which is better Canon HV30 or Sony HDR-SR12?

Which camcorder is better .. The price dont matter I just want to know which image will give the best and are easiest to work with .. I edit with Final Cut Express, and it will be mainly used for sports like snowboarding and motocross

I would be a miniDV tape based camcorder has a hard drive or flash-based camcorder any day. HV30 has 24p. SR12 not. HV30 has 30p. SR12 not. In any case, progressive grasp frame is at a high rate for fast shutter speed much better sport than interlaced video. The HV30 has a 43mm lens than the smaller 37mm lens against the SR12. (This allows more light into the imaging chip). The SR12's 12x optical zoom is HV30 vs the 10x, so that only marginal … That is, the SR12 has a built-in IR emitters for Zero-infrared light, monochrome video capture, that the HV30 has. Importing a Sony Handycam to a Mac?

I can import video's from my camera to my Mac via iMovie, but it reduces the quality of a Ton from when the camera is on … Is there a way to import another way? ie I have a fiewire Macbook (not the latest, not plastic unibody one) and a Sony Handycam DCR-SX40

The Sony DCR-SX40 is a standard definition, Memory Stick (Flash Memory), camcorders, video records highly compressed to MPG files. Generally, iMovie files are not normally imported directly (not in Windows Movie Maker, you are not missing anything) – so there must be something else installed on the computer, the to do transcoding work. You have not provided many details. If the video recording quality is set in the camcorder is not already on top, then expect worse Quality. Always have the highest rate. Yes, you need more memory sticks – but high-quality video applications very much space. If you do not want get more memory and stay with you long time in a small room, you will be stuck with low quality video. You can not both ways. If you have a comparison are the 3.5-inch screen playback on the much larger iMovie editing window or full screen playback, expect lower quality. High compressed video covers all the computers and their processing apps the same – and the results are poor video quality.
