How does the Kindle work?
I just asked today about my problem with keeping a credit number on file for the nook. The answer I received was very helpful….it advised a way to solve my problem and that would be replace my nook with a sony eReader (which i do wish to replace) but I was told that looking at the screen can hurt your eyes due to the fact the screen does not have a “read like paper” affect to it and its more like starting at a computer screen. The kindle was also mentioned and it was said that because I don’t have a credit card that I could use a gift card to purchase books and that is a way I could use it but I do not know if I would have to have a credit card number on file for use free eBooks like the nook. Is it possible to have a Kindle and only input a credit card number when I wish to purchase a book but also not need to have on one file when I wish to read a free eBook.
Okay. I’m going to try to help you and figure this out here.
I believe you need a CC to register the account, but can then take it off IF you have a gift card attached. So what you can do is register the kindle, apply the gc, de-register your CC. Then yes, you can download free books as well as books up to the cost of your GC so long as there’s a balance left I believe.
