i have a sony cyber-shot 3.2 mega pixels. i opened up the camera but i cant get to where the shutter actually is. everytime i turn on the camera it makes this weird noise. but i know it wants to turn on. its pretty pointlees to go somewhere to get it fixed, because the money i spend on getting it fixed i could just buy a new camera. can anyone help me? please?

You opened the camera yourself?

Well, it could make a nice and educating "how a camera is made" project for you, but I doubt you will ever be able to get it back together the same way.

First off – how do you know your shutter is broken, if you can not even find where it is (which tells me you don’t know how one looks and/or where to look for it)? If a shutter is broken, there’s no way you can fix it with a hammer, philips screwdriver, pliers and a hacksaw in your garage. It takes special equipment, tools and spare parts. This is why it costs so much to fix a camera that it won’t be economical to you.

If you turn on the camera and it makes weired noise but not coming on, it’s probably your lens that is broken (did you drop it by any chance?). And a broken lens usually means a camera is now a paper weight, unless something just got stuck and can get unstuck easily. But if it took a fall or a hit, the odds are against you.

So your best bet is to start shopping for a new camera at this point.
